Consisting of fourth and fifth grades, our Intermediate students continue their religious and academic education. As an introduction to the years to come, they begin to change classes for a few subjects. Teachers focus on individualized learning plans that meet each each student's academic level. Students will cover the following subjects: Religion, Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Students also experience time with other teachers in Music class, STEM Technology, Physical Education, Art class, and Library. Homework is assigned at the discretion of the teacher. Such assignments are appropriate for the students' age and grade-level. Students are grouped for math according to their ability.. While academics become more challenging in these grades, students are also provided the opportunity for more service activities, athletics, extra-curricular activities and social events, all of which provide them opportunities for continued growth in faith, maturity, self-confidence, and academic success.
Academic fundamentals and the development of social responsibility lay the groundwork for upcoming school years. As 4th and 5th Graders become more independent, they take on new responsibilities and earn privileges. Students are introduced to our STEM Wood Shop and are safety trained to operate power tools and more complex technology. Chromebooks and iPads (mobile cart) are used by students during the school day and prepare them for the responsibility of being issued a personal Chromebook in Middle School.
